Even Better News
I was recently admitted to "a school in Chicago that operates on the quarter system." It looks like I clawed my way to the top... with a little bit of hard work, and a LOT of help from Prof. X.
Prof. X: I can never thank you enough for all you've done for me.
Snubs.
Also... in what could be called the BEST news :) I got to a) see my girlfriend, and b) she bought me burritos last night. This truly has been a remarkable day.

Double congratulations!
Fashion sense AND burritos? Better hold on to that girlfriend.
LOL CM is right! You lucky guy, you...
I hope I'll be lucky to find another mentor who's as understanding and uber cool as Prof. M (and Snub's Prof. X).
You guys don't have to tell me how cool my girlfriend is :) I'm well aware, and very appreciative of her.
Yeah, Shell, for profs... pick one who seems cool, and e-mail them questions during the course of the class... you'll a) learn something, and b) they'll be more likely to remember you as the person who "really wanted to know the economic rationale for strict liability" when they're looking at resumes for research assistants :)
That job paid off bigtime. I can tell you for a fact, flat-out, that I would not be going where I am had I not had Prof. X in my corner. Letters of recommendation were sent to pretty much EVERYONE in the administration of the schools I was applying to. There are literally hundreds of people who are in the top 10% of their classes... and I honestly think Prof. X was what set me apart.
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!
Transferring was perhaps the best decision I ever made, in large part because I loved the school so much. May you, too!
Congratulations, and welcome to Chicago!! Ah, the quarter system. Don't ya love it?
